Position Overview
This role involves instructing skating techniques in group settings, supporting organizational events, and advocating for Ice & Field while reflecting the values and mission of AEG.
The compensation for this position ranges from $15 to $25 per hour.
Part-time benefits include: a 401(k) savings plan with matching contributions. Additionally, part-time, seasonal, and internship staff earn one hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked, accumulating up to 48 hours annually.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead classes in various formats, including the Learn-to-Skate Program, community sessions, and company-sponsored events.
- Adhere to the established Learn-to-Skate curriculum.
- Assist in organizing and promoting facility shows and competitions.
- Offer constructive feedback to skaters during evaluations.
- Maintain professionalism and ethical standards while expanding clientele.
- Meet all organizational standards and comply with instructor protocols.
- Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, promoting company values.
- Communicate program details to guests and support the organization's commitment to excellence in figure skating, hockey, and recreational skating.
- Provide recommendations for skater progression through available programs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience in figure skating, including competitive participation, performance experience, or coaching background.
- Thorough understanding of U.S. Figure Skating, Learn-to-Skate USA, and the Professional Skaters Association.
- Actively pursuing educational opportunities within the sport and holds PSA Basic Accreditation.
- For Learn-to-Skate Instructors and Junior Instructors (no private lessons): Must possess current Learn-to-Skate USA Instructor Membership or current USFS Coach Compliance and Membership.
- For Skating Instructors (private lessons): Must have current US Figure Skating Coach Compliance (refer to the US Figure Skating website for requirements).
- Exhibit a consistent, professional, and motivating teaching style, effectively managing class time.
- Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule based on events, including long hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
