Healthcare Assistant Responsibilities:
  • Handle and direct incoming calls, gather necessary patient information to maintain and update records, and ensure all documentation is completed by patients.
  • Perform various patient care activities to assist physicians and nursing staff.
  • Deliver excellent customer service while adhering to established quality control standards.
  • Facilitate patient check-out, assist with referral processes, and coordinate laboratory services.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, record vital signs, and document health histories.
  • Set up EKG machines and other ancillary tests, administer injections and medications, and conduct routine specimen collections and tests.
  • Prepare examination rooms and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and readiness.
  • Assist physicians with medical treatments, procedures, and examinations.
  • Manage the inventory of medical supplies and ensure examination rooms are stocked appropriately.
  • Handle messages, prior authorizations, and patient inquiries.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited healthcare assistant certification program at the time of hire (with certification), or within 180 days of employment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Maintains healthcare assistant and CPR certifications (and actions required for recertifications) (CPR within 30 days of employment).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients and external parties in a courteous manner.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Strong understanding of medical practices, administrative processes, and organizational policies.
  • Knowledge of patient care and examination procedures.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality at all times.

Physical & Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to push or pull heavy objects using up to 100 pounds of force.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to use fine motor skills to operate equipment and/or machinery.
  • Ability to comprehend instructions both verbally and in writing.
  • Logical reasoning skills for problem-solving.
  • Occasional exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
