Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at the Florida Department of Health in Lee County. As a Registered Nurse, you will provide public health nursing services to clients in our clinics, promoting and maintaining the health of individuals, families, and the community through preventative and rehabilitative measures.

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing services in all FDOH Lee clinics and community settings
  • Promote and maintain health of individuals, families, and the community through appropriate preventative and rehabilitative measures
  • Provide childhood and adult immunizations, reproductive health services, counseling/testing, health screening, health education, referrals, and follow-up of referrals
  • Maintain comprehensive quality records, collect and report pertinent data to advanced practice registered nurses and physicians
  • Participate in case conferences, confer with other professionals, formulate and evaluate care plans, assist in record reviews, and recognize and understand changes in the community and nursing practice that affect community health unit programs/plans
  • Assist with health fairs, community organizations, and specific public health events as requested
  • Prepare reports or other required data within specified time frames
  • Attend pertinent conferences as requested or permitted
  • Perform other miscellaneous related duties as required
Requirements
  • Associate's degree from a U.S. accredited college or university in Nursing
  • One year of experience as a nurse with the State of Florida
  • Master's degree from a U.S. accredited college or university in nursing, nursing education, public health, or a related field can substitute for the required professional nursing experience
  • Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code

The successful candidate will be required to complete the Form I-9 and that information will be verified using the E-Verify system.

Incumbents may be required to perform emergency duty before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days.
