We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Support Staff member to join our team at Empower Academy LLC. This role is essential in fostering an inclusive learning environment for our students with diverse needs.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in executing lesson plans: Collaborate with the Special Education Teacher to implement structured lesson plans and adhere to established schedules.
- Facilitate new learning experiences: Introduce pre-planned educational activities in partnership with the Special Education Teacher.
- Implement individualized support strategies: Carry out Positive Support Plans (PSPs), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and Individual Treatment Plans (ITPs) to meet student needs.
- Promote a positive learning environment: Help maintain classroom order and assist in managing student behavior, including crisis intervention when necessary.
- Engage in professional development: Participate in crisis intervention training and apply de-escalation techniques and therapeutic interventions as required.
- Collaborate with service providers: Work alongside related service professionals, including speech, occupational, and physical therapists, as well as social workers.
- Monitor student activities: Supervise students during independent work or similar tasks while the teacher is engaged in other responsibilities.
- Support teacher evaluations: Provide valuable insights to assist the teacher in assessing student progress and behavior management strategies.
- Oversee student transitions: Supervise students during transitions between classrooms, during lunch, recess, and other activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Assist with transportation supervision: Help supervise students during the loading and unloading of buses.
- Engage in continuous learning: Attend meetings, professional development sessions, and in-service training as required.
- Maintain confidentiality: Uphold FERPA regulations and respect the privacy of all student and staff information.
- Exhibit ethical conduct: Demonstrate professionalism and ethical behavior in all interactions.
- Perform additional duties: Carry out other responsibilities as assigned by the Special Education Teacher.
