The Division of Continuing Education (DCE) operates as a self-sustaining unit within the University of California. Revenue is generated through fees from a diverse and dynamic student body. Part-time instructor roles are contracted on a course-by-course basis. This is not a faculty position.
We are currently seeking qualified candidates for online teaching positions, specifically those with expertise and/or teaching experience in Marketing Analytics and Data Science.
Instructor Responsibilities:
* Develop and/or revise course syllabi in collaboration with the UCI Division of Continuing Education (DCE) Program Director, utilizing the approved syllabus template.
* Prepare and deliver online course materials and assessments in the designated format.
* Utilize the Canvas Learning Management System as the primary course support platform.
* Clearly communicate teaching objectives and specific learning outcomes to students, along with grading policies.
* Assess student performance against defined learning outcomes and assign grades accordingly.
* Submit final grades to the transcript system by established deadlines.
* Address student inquiries and learning needs promptly.
* Manage student questions regarding final grades and consult with the Director as necessary.
* Stay updated on the professional knowledge relevant to the field.
* Participate in required orientations and complete mandatory training programs by deadlines set by UC Irvine.
* Complete necessary administrative tasks in a timely manner, including hiring paperwork, submitting updated syllabi, posting a biography and photo on the UCI DCE website, signing quarterly contracts, ordering required texts, and communicating audiovisual and classroom needs.
* Employ culturally competent teaching methodologies to accommodate both domestic and international student populations.
* Allow students to review their final exams/papers for up to 13 months following the last class session.
* Utilize subject-matter expertise and additional resources to enhance the curriculum (e.g., arranging guest speakers).
* Design engaging and interactive classroom activities to fully involve participants and reinforce learning.
* Regularly update course materials and monitor evaluations to make necessary adjustments and improvements.
Our curriculum is continuously refined to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and business practices necessary to remain competitive and advance their careers. Led by qualified professionals, our courses emphasize practical applications, foundational principles, and current issues that can be directly applied in students' work environments.
Part-time, temporary assignments are filled as needed. This is an ongoing recruitment process. We accept applications for part-time instructor positions year-round; when there is a need to fill a position, we refer to the pool of applications on file. We are particularly looking for instructors qualified to teach the following course(s) starting in the upcoming quarter.
Course: Marketing Analytics & Data Science 1.0
This course aims to provide marketers with foundational principles of marketing analytics and data science, along with their applications. Students will embark on a guided exploration of the shared principles between Marketing Analytics and Data Science, covering various types of analytics: Descriptive (what happened), Predictive (what will happen), and Prescriptive (what should be done next), while integrating Data Science concepts. Students will learn about current marketing data architecture, best practices for analytics and attribution, and forecasting using basic models.
Individuals selected to teach these courses must understand that all agreements with the University are made on a course-by-course basis, with no guarantee of ongoing involvement.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications:
* Advanced degree from an accredited institution.
* Current knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in the subject area.
* 8-10 years of professional experience in the relevant field.
* Experience teaching at the college level for a corporate entity or equivalent organization.
* Prior experience teaching remotely and/or online using synchronous instruction tools and a Learning Management System.
* Ability to teach across multiple time zones globally.

* Experience in designing/revising curriculum and assessing student performance.
* College-level teaching experience (or equivalent corporate experience).
