Senior Cost Accountant

Location

Position Summary
We are currently seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to contribute to our manufacturing operations in St. Charles. The ideal candidate will be strategic, collaborative, and possess a proactive mindset, along with a keen attention to detail. This role requires the ability to work effectively with colleagues and management, demonstrating sound judgment and a high level of professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Controller in meeting deliverables and deadlines.
  • Support the annual standard cost process.
  • Calculate and report cycle count metrics and related reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely completion of monthly reports with accuracy.
  • Review transactions to ensure proper impact on perpetual and general ledger records.
  • Analyze variances to identify underlying causes.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to enhance processes and accuracy, driving efficiency.
  • Monitor inventory transaction processes and identify areas for improvement.
  • Exhibit curiosity in understanding workflows and their impact on various operations.
  • Demonstrate initiative and a solution-oriented approach.
  • Report on variances from standard costs, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
  • Manage the monthly accounting close process, including balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Support compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and related audits.
  • Assist in the review of excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Support the site payables process.
  • Handle other ad-hoc requests, analyses, and projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required; advanced degrees or certifications (CMA, CFA, CPA) are advantageous.
  • Experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Exceptional analytical capabilities.
  • 1 to 2+ years of experience in Manufacturing Finance with direct costing accounting experience.
  • Familiarity with GAAP and SOX regulations.
  • Strong proficiency in PC applications (Excel, Access, PowerPoint) is essential.
  • Experience with Hyperion Consolidation tools is a plus.
  • Proven ability to thrive in a cross-functional and remote work environment.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple critical projects in a fast-paced setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly across all organizational levels.

Travel & Work Arrangements
This position is fully site-based.
