We are seeking a highly skilled Distinguished Scientist to join our AI & Experiences Org at Zillow. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for formulating and working on science-driven initiatives related to user experiences.
This is a growing space, and we are looking for a curious and intuitive scientist to continually build momentum in this area. Our team is staffed with applied scientists, engineers, and designers developing spatial understanding algorithms and deep learning models that power immersive media experiences for buyers and renters.
As a Distinguished Scientist, you will help create new business opportunities, improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our team's technical and research work, and position our scientists and engineers to thrive both within the company and research community.
You will be encouraged to challenge established assumptions and expectations, not just by capitalizing on what we already have, but coming up with new ideas that fuel innovation and creativity. Our solutions ingest large volumes of data (imagery and metadata), and process it to build the exciting and immersive experiences that can be explored on zillow.com.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and lead research initiatives to advance Zillow's mission in user experiences
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new technologies
- Design and implement experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of new technologies
- Communicate research findings and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Mentor and guide junior scientists and engineers to help them grow in their careers
- Ph.D. in Computer Science or Engineering, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, or related domain
- Solid background in computer vision research, building models and algorithms
- Understanding of 2D/3D geometry and experience framing geometrical problems within modern differentiable frameworks such as PyTorch and Tensorflow
- Excellent publication record and an excitement to share your knowledge with others
- Practical knowledge of deep learning
- Communication skills to work collaboratively with peers and leaders across a large organization
- Tenacity to embrace and solve ambitious problems
- Ability to effectively mentor both senior and junior applied scientists
