Position Overview

The Structural Assembly Technician role involves the precise fitting of piping and structural components as per the provided specifications and verified dimensions. The individual will adhere to welding procedure requirements and is expected to work efficiently throughout the workday.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clear guidance to assigned helpers and welders.
  • Maintain punctuality and professionalism in interactions with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Take full responsibility for the quality of workmanship and productivity.
  • Conduct material take-offs from drawings to determine cut lengths.
  • Utilize cutting and beveling machines for pipe preparation as necessary.
  • Communicate effectively with helpers regarding material and equipment needs for each task.
  • Secure parts in position using bolts, clamps, and tack-welds prior to welding.
  • Verify materials against drawing requirements, ensuring accuracy in size, rating, and grade.
  • Notify the supervisor of any discrepancies found in materials.
  • Ensure all measurements are accurate and check for squareness and level before proceeding to welding.
  • Document pre-weld dimensions and transfer heat numbers to relevant drawings.
  • Ensure all fabricated items are tagged correctly with job numbers and customer details.
  • Inspect all equipment daily to maintain safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by sweeping the work area as needed.
  • Engage in thorough Job Safety Analysis (JSA) discussions prior to task initiation.
  • Exhibit a positive attitude towards both internal and external customer service.
