Job Summary

The Heavy Equipment Technician is a key role at Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc, supporting the company's environmental, health and safety practices while ensuring production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • SORTING AND GRADING OF INCOMING METAL DELIVERIES FROM SUPPLIERS AND CUSTOMERS: Safely receive, sort, and grade metal deliveries to ensure quality standards are met.
  • FACILITATING PRODUCTION EFFICIENCY AND PRODUCTIVITY: Work with team members to optimize production processes, ensuring timely completion of tasks and meeting quality standards.
  • SAFE WORK ENVIRONMENT: Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to company policies and procedures, and reporting any hazards or incidents.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • EXPERIENCE WITH FORKLIFTS, TRUCKS AND HEAVY MACHINERY: Possess experience operating heavy equipment, including forklifts and trucks.
  • AFFILIATE TO SAFETY REGULATIONS: Understand and adhere to safety regulations and guidelines in a fast-paced environment.
  • MULTI-TASKING SKILLS: Demonstrate ability to multitask, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Estimated Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on location and experience. This figure is based on industry standards and requirements outlined in this job description.
