Job Summary

The Diagnostic Imaging Clerk plays a vital role in coordinating and facilitating patient care activities in the Radiology department at Skagit Regional Health. This position requires effective communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills to ensure seamless patient flow and efficient workflow.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain ability to float to other departments/locations as assigned.
  • Prepare examination rooms per established procedure.
  • Coordinate efficient patient flow through effective performance of established procedures.
  • Assist in collecting quality assurance data.
  • Transport patients in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Assist technologists with patient positioning.
  • Perform room turnover and restocking.
  • Ensure all appointment reminder calls are performed per established guidelines.
  • Follow-up on patients that do not show up for scheduled appointments.
  • Document correctly and succinctly in the medical record in a timely manner.
  • Utilize patient records in an appropriate manner.
  • Perform patient interviews and documentation.
  • Teach patients and/or family members through utilization of effective organizational resources.
  • Facilitate accurate coding, patient referrals, and appointment rescheduling.
  • Direct patient calls in an appropriate manner.
  • Ensure that the electronic medical record is complete and accurate through established procedures.
  • Respond to codes in a prompt manner.
  • Communicate effectively and cooperatively in the workplace.
  • Actively contribute to the achievement of Quality Improvement and Lean Process Improvement activities.
  • Create requested CDs for patients and providers per SVH policies and protocols.
  • Send and receive electronic images and medical records per SRH policies and protocols.
  • Perform prescreening and patient preparation for patients and deliver accurate information to technologists.
  • Complete all mandatory learning requirements in a timely manner.
  • Maintain current licensure and/or certification as required.
  • Attend and actively participate in all department, team, and/or committee meetings.
  • Comply with all Skagit Regional Health, department, and location-specific policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager or designee.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Previous experience in a Diagnostic service preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirement.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS required.
Preferred Skills
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Must be able to effectively utilize Microsoft Office applications to perform work.
  • Well-developed problem-solving and analytical skills required.
  • Must be able to effectively prioritize workload amongst frequent interruptions with competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology required.
  • Knowledge of infection control, imaging procedures, safety, body mechanics, patient positioning, HIPAA, anatomy, and physiology preferred.
  • Experience with an EMR.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds.
