Job Summary

The Advanced Patient Care Technician (APCT) plays a vital role in the Emergency Department, providing high-quality patient care and support to our team. As an APCT, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional patient care, working collaboratively with our nursing staff, and contributing to the overall success of our department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, including vital sign monitoring, wound care, and dressing changes
  • Insert and remove peripheral IV lines, collect blood samples, and perform other medical procedures as needed
  • Operate and maintain patient monitoring systems, including ECG and blood pressure monitoring
  • Assist with procedures, such as phlebotomy and Foley catheter placement
  • Document patient information, interventions, and outcomes in a timely and accurate manner
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of safety and excellence
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; trade or vocational school in medical/surgical patient care preferred
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association required; EMT course completion or completion of 1st level of nursing school preferred
  • Two years of experience as a CNA or CMA can substitute for course completion
  • De-escalation certification preferred
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills; ability to prioritize quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment

The APCT will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, providing care to patients with a wide range of medical conditions. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team setting, communicate clearly and concisely, and maintain a high level of professionalism and composure in challenging situations.

Physical Requirements

The APCT will be required to stand for long periods, lift and move patients, and perform other physical tasks as needed. The successful candidate will be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for 8 hours, and move quickly and safely in a fast-paced environment.
