Athletic Field Maintenance Technician (Seasonal) - Competitive Pay: $16.50 per hour
Position Overview:
We provide adaptable work schedules, offering between 20-40 hours weekly, with the chance to accrue paid vacation and overtime shortly after starting. We accommodate school schedules, with most roles spanning a six-month duration, and in certain cases, extending up to nine months.
The Sports Facilities for the City of Grand Junction are dedicated to the upkeep of the Lincoln Park Sports Complex, Canyon View regional sports park, Columbine, and Kronkright fields. Our venues host four local high schools, Colorado Mesa University, the National Junior College World Series, and the Grand Junction Jackelopes. Gain expertise in maintaining athletic fields to the highest standards in the state, work in premier facilities, and participate in the largest sporting events in the Western Slope.
About the Parks and Recreation Department:
We oversee 36 developed parks, over 900 acres of open space, and 21 miles of trails, with continuous growth. Many of our parks provide year-round access to restrooms and shelters for visitors. Become part of a vibrant team that enhances the experiences of our park system's patrons.

Key Responsibilities
What You'll Be Responsible For:
- Maintaining the Lincoln Park Sports Complex, Canyon View regional sports park, Columbine, and Kronkright fields.
- Acquiring skills to uphold athletic fields to the highest standards in the state, working in top-tier facilities, and engaging in major sporting events in the Western Slope.
This position is classified as safety-sensitive, requiring random drug screenings due to the nature of the work.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
Demonstrated ability to maintain a strong work ethic while working outdoors throughout the day. - Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
- A passion for outdoor activities.
- Strong communication and active listening abilities.
- Attention to processes and procedures.
- Experience with landscaping tools and equipment is advantageous, but training will be provided.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Availability to work early morning shifts.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
