Role Summary

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for executing essential reprocessing tasks, including the decontamination, sterilization, assembly, and distribution of medical and surgical supplies, ensuring the highest standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough cleaning, decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and transportation of medical instruments and supplies.
  • Utilize appropriate disinfectants and detergents to decontaminate a wide range of reusable patient care equipment.
  • Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and linens using steam or gas sterilization methods.
  • Operate various sterilization and decontamination equipment, including ultrasonic washers and rinsers.
  • Accurately package and label instrument trays and supplies in accordance with established protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and equipment usage through tracking software.
  • Perform routine quality checks and maintenance on sterilization equipment.
  • Adhere to safety and cleanliness standards in the work environment.
Qualifications
  • Certification as a Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) is mandatory.
  • Certification as a Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER) is required.
  • An Associate's Degree in a related healthcare field is preferred, with relevant experience considered.
  • Physical capability to lift and maneuver over 50 pounds.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
