This position is a licensed, specialty trained, Physician (Pediatrics) that provides direct medical services to eligible beneficiaries at Military Treatment Facilities under DHA.
Duties- Scope of services include, but are not limited to, examination, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of newborns, infants, children, and adolescents.
- Care provided includes a broad spectrum of health services ranging from preventative health care and developmental health care needs to the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic diseases.
- Provides first contact, continuous, comprehensive primary care for newborns, infants, children, and adolescents according to current standards of care, the patient centered medical home model of care, Army policy, and relevant regulations.
- Leads a multi-disciplinary team of individuals who collectively takes responsibility for the ongoing care of patients.
- Completes required records (both paper and electronic) pertaining to all medical services provided in accordance with specified procedures and regulations.
- Properly safeguards all reports and records according to the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
- May be required to obtain and maintain certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Immunization screening is required. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact.
- Applicants must be able to fulfill non-privileged professional credential requirements.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- This position is designated “Mission Essential.” In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
