Piano Technician

The University of Nebraska is seeking a skilled Piano Technician to join our team. As a key member of our music department, you will be responsible for the maintenance and care of our piano and keyboard inventory.

Key Responsibilities:

• Tune, regulate, and voice pianos and keyboards to ensure optimal performance
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on pianos and keyboards
• Develop and implement a strategic plan for preventative maintenance, including rebuilding and restoring instruments
• Provide education and training to faculty, staff, and students on the proper use and maintenance of pianos and keyboards
• Supervise graduate student assistants and provide guidance on piano tuning and maintenance

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in music or a related field
• 2+ years of experience as a professional piano technician in a piano shop, concert hall, or university
• Advanced skills in concert piano preparation, regulation, and voicing
• Experience with inventory, tuning, and maintenance record keeping
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

• Registered Piano Technician through the Piano Technicians Guild
• Steinway Factory training
• Experience supervising student workers and providing guidance on piano tuning and maintenance
