Position Summary:
The Mental Health/Psychiatric Technician plays a crucial role in supporting individuals experiencing psychiatric challenges and substance use disorders. This position involves working under the guidance of healthcare professionals to ensure the safety and well-being of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide personal care and behavioral support to assigned patients.
2. Assist clients with daily activities, including grooming, meal preparation, and toileting.
3. Conduct regular safety checks on patients as directed.
4. Aid in patient mobility and transfer as needed.
5. Monitor and record vital signs, including heart rate and blood pressure.
6. Implement behavioral support strategies and crisis interventions.
7. Promote patient independence and safety.
8. Document care activities in accordance with established policies.
9. Participate in rehabilitation and treatment initiatives.
10. Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- An Associate's degree in behavioral studies or a related field is preferred, along with relevant experience.
- A minimum of one year of experience in a similar role is advantageous.
- Compliance with professional standards of practice is essential.
- Completion of Amergis' Competency program may be required.
- Current CPR certification and health documentation as applicable.
- Must adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines is crucial.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in English are required.
- Basic computer skills are necessary.
- Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
