Patient Care Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our Emergency Department team at Samaritan Healthcare. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Assist Emergency Department Physicians, Advance Practice Clinicians, and licensed Registered Nurses in providing basic and technical patient care.
- Perform direct patient care activities within your scope of practice under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Physician.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Obtain and document vital signs, and assist with the placement of oxygen saturation monitors, cardiac monitoring, and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring systems.
- Assist with safe patient positioning, patient transfer/transport, and the application of orthopedic splints/dressings.
- Assist with lab draws, if certified as a Medical Assistant Phlebotomist.
- Measure and fit crutches and walkers, and instruct patients on proper use.
- Assist with resuscitation/CPR and emergency airway procedures.
- Decontaminate equipment, instruments, and supplies, and assist with stocking patient rooms.
- Recognize and report abnormal signs and symptoms to primary RN and ED provider.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous healthcare experience required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Washington State Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or Washington State MA-Emergency Medical Technician (MA-EMT) certification required.
- Washington State Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification preferred.
- Medical Assistant - Registered within 6 months of hire.
- CPR certification - Healthcare Provider (HCP) level within 6 months of hire.
This role requires occasional or prolonged standing, sitting, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, crouching, pushing, and pulling. Manual dexterity, ability to lift/carry up to 10 pounds, and physical strength to perform CPR and lift/push/pull 60 to 300 pounds are also required.

- Demonstrates accountability, practices within legal and ethical guidelines, and demonstrates competency in caring for customers/patients across the age continuum.
