Position Overview

The William & Mary School of Education is seeking a pool of qualified individuals to serve as university supervisors for the 2024-2025 academic year. As a university supervisor, you will play a critical role in mentoring and supervising W&M teacher candidates during their student teaching experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mentor and supervise W&M teacher candidates during their student teaching experience
  • Observe student teachers 5 times across a semester in K-12 public school settings
  • Provide coaching, formatively evaluate performance, and provide written feedback
  • Facilitate conferences with student-teacher-cooperating teacher pairs
  • Complete two formal evaluations of each student teacher's performance
  • Serve as a liaison between the university and area schools

Requirements

  • Former teacher and/or instructional administrator in a public school division
  • At least three years of successful, full-time teaching experience
  • Master's degree
  • Written or verbal recommendation(s) of former supervisors or administrative colleagues
  • Current or former state teaching license
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in educational coaching or mentoring, especially with novice teachers

Compensation and Benefits

The university supervisor will receive $665 per student supervised, with mileage reimbursement for required site visits provided following the W&M travel policy and process.
