Job Overview:
This role is suitable for nurses with at least 2 years of experience, including those new to travel nursing. The unit caters to a variety of patient diagnoses, including:
- Chest pain
- Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)
- Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD)
- Arrhythmias
- Diabetes Mellitus (DM)
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) exacerbation
- Pneumonia (PNA)
- Hypertension (HTN)
- Myocardial Infarction (MI)
- Renal failure
- Pulmonary Embolism (PE)
- Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
- Gastrointestinal bleed
- Syncope
*Potential for medical-surgical overflow cases (e.g., GI bleed, sepsis, cerebrovascular accident, COVID positive patients).
Unit Specifics:
- Pre/post catheterization lab care
- Pacemaker/AICD management
- Ablation procedures
- Vascular surgeries (e.g., Carotid Endarterectomy, femoral-popliteal bypass)
- Drip titration (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Nitroglycerin, Dopamine, Heparin)
- Sheath removal at bedside
Equipment Utilized:
- Telemetry monitoring
- Chest tubes
- Patient-Controlled Analgesia (PCA)
- Epidurals
- Wound Vac systems
Essential Qualifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Proficient in telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia management
- Experience with:
- Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG)
- Chest tube management
- Post-angiogram care
- Myocardial Infarction and cardiac catheterization
- Port accessing
- Blood product administration
- Central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care
- Starting IVs
- Titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Isolation precautions
- Wound care and management
Scheduling Information:
- Every other holiday
- Flexibility to work across various inpatient units
- Specific scheduling requests cannot be guaranteed.
