Job Overview

Position Summary:

This role involves performing a variety of manual tasks in support of maintenance operations. The employee will be engaged in essential maintenance activities as directed, requiring a foundational understanding of multiple trades including carpentry, painting, electrical work, plumbing, and masonry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes hand tools and machinery safely and effectively to assist with repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Operates and maintains groundskeeping equipment and power tools, as well as municipal vehicles.
  • Conducts routine maintenance on municipal vehicles, including washing, waxing, and preventive upkeep.
  • May be involved in the installation, repair, and replacement of curbs, gutters, and storm drainage systems, along with paving and pothole repairs on city streets and sidewalks.
  • Maintains and repairs plumbing and electrical systems in municipal buildings, including the replacement of worn or defective components.
  • Installs and/or replaces traffic signage, street lighting, and pavement markings. Assists in the setup and dismantling of city-sponsored events.
  • Performs minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and repairing fixtures and furniture.
  • May assist in clearing sewer lines.
  • Responsible for laying and replacing water and sewer lines.
  • Completes other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) with two (2) years of experience in construction or maintenance, or a suitable combination of training and experience.
  • A valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Skills:

  • Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B is preferred.
