Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at BehaviorRx. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with mild or moderate disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess students' abilities and develop individualized teaching plans to meet their unique needs.
  • Modify existing curriculum to ensure accessibility and adaptability for students with disabilities.
  • Collaborate with parents and support staff to discuss student progress and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Monitor students' behavioral patterns and implement interventions as needed.
  • Design engaging activities to teach essential skills, such as communication, socialization, and life skills.
  • Manage classroom crises and resolve conflicts in a fair and respectful manner.
  • Prepare students for transition to the next grade level and support their long-term academic and personal growth.
  • Communicate effectively with parents about their child's performance and progress.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to other professionals working with students with disabilities.
  • Collaborate with support staff, such as school counselors and speech therapists, to create comprehensive intervention plans.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Special Education Teacher or relevant role.
  • Strong knowledge of current special education topics and methodologies.
  • Experience working with students with a wide range of disabilities.
  • Ability to create Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and adapt to changing student needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Valid state special education certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education; Master's degree preferred.

Mandatory

  • Must possess a clear Arizona Special Education Teaching Credential.
  • Must reside in or be in the process of relocating to Arizona.
  • Must have verifiable classroom teaching experience or be newly credentialed.
  • Reciprocal out-of-state licenses currently in progress will be considered.
