Job Summary

The City of Stafford is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting the community, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol designated areas to prevent and detect crime, and to enforce laws and regulations.
  • Respond to emergency calls, provide assistance, and make arrests as necessary.
  • Conduct investigations, gather evidence, and testify in court as required.
  • Provide customer service, respond to citizen complaints, and resolve community issues.
  • Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies, share intelligence, and participate in joint operations.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date with best practices and new technologies.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; some college or specialized training preferred.
  • Basic Certification from the Texas Commission of Law Enforcement required.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License required.
  • Pass a background investigation, polygraph, physical, psychological, and drug screening.
Working Conditions

Positions in this class typically require:

  • Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, running, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
  • Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions, intense noises, travel, and environmental conditions such as disruptive people, imminent danger, or a threatening environment.
