Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Quality/No Harm:
    • Administer medications to patients in a safe and effective manner.
    • Delegate and supervise patient care activities within the healthcare setting.
    • Communicate effectively with other healthcare team members and promote effective team functioning.
    • Utilize Health First computer systems for order entry, order inquiry, and patient care documentation.
    • Practice safe and effective clinical care.
    • Coordinate interdisciplinary plans of care based on current evidence-based practice.
    • Document all nursing care, changes in condition, response to therapy, treatments, procedures, and referrals on patient records.
  • Stewardship:
    • Use and care for equipment and supplies economically.
  • Customer Experience:
    • Provide patient, family, and/or caregiver education as directed by the plan of care.
    • Provide service to patients and families with sensitivity and respect for their needs, expectations, age, cultural, and individual differences.
    • Contribute to the patient experience through positive patient satisfaction scores and HCAHPs scores for the department/medical center.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification:
    • Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing.
    • BSN preferred.
    • AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card required prior to start date and maintained.
    • Certification(s) as required by specific unit.
  • Licensure:
    • Current Florida RN licensure or endorsement.
  • Experience:
    • Meet unit-specific care requirements.
  • Language:
    • Speak and understand written and verbal instructions in the English language.
Physical and Mental Demands
  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform clinical tasks.
  • Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate patients/equipment up to 90% of the assigned shift.
  • Lift up to 40 pounds unassisted up to 33% of the assigned shift.
  • Stand, walk, bend, and stoop up to 90% of assigned shift.
  • Potential for exposure to bio-hazardous waste and known or unknown diseases.
