Forensic Extraction Technologist Trainee

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and evaluate urine, oral fluid, and blood specimens for testing, prioritizing work to maintain acceptable turn-around-time.
  • Work with immunoassays, including ELISA, to interpret data and test results.
  • Evaluate raw and final data for accuracy, recognizing and correcting errors and unusual results.
  • Recognize unacceptable and unusual specimens and handle them appropriately.
  • Use quality control samples and proficiency samples to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Follow quality control rules, monitoring controls for error detection and taking corrective action.
  • Maintain laboratory records, maintenance logs, quality control charts, reagent and standard logs, and worksheets.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and clean laboratory equipment, performing scheduled and as-needed maintenance and critical function checks.
  • Perform all duties according to standard operating procedures and/or supervisor instruction.
  • Maintain a fully operational understanding of chain of custody processes within the lab.
  • Deliver quality patient care through diagnostic and occupational testing, maintaining efficiency.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and quality control with appropriate documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements.
  • Previous clinical laboratory testing experience is not required.
  • ASCP or AMT certification is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Proficient with computers, familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
  • High level of attention to detail, strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life, STD/LTD, 401(k), paid time off (PTO) or flexible time off (FTO), tuition reimbursement, and employee stock purchase plan. Casual, PRN & Part Time employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours are eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan only.
