Job Summary

The Network Support Technician - Intermediate will provide critical network support to our data center operations, ensuring the smooth functioning of our enterprise systems management, STIG, and IAVM compliance, as well as desktop systems management capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement network upgrades compliant with Information and Technology standards and initiatives
  • Review and provide comments on emerging network policies and procedures to network stakeholders and customers
  • Utilize the automated work order system to track and work customer requests
  • Provide customer systems support and respond to critical service requests and routine service requests
  • Prepare and submit change requests to support additions, moves, and upgrades that affect the network infrastructure
  • Provide remote and onsite customer support, including ISP maintenance and repair of NIPRNET and SIPRNET telecommunications equipment and systems
  • Participate in the change control process and maintain network design documents
  • Establish connectivity and termination points, identify and track protocols and ports, and formulate secure rules
  • Provide protocols and designs to the Information Assurance Division (IAD) and identify changes for the LAN/WAN infrastructure to make secure connections
  • Define rulesets and necessary protocols with the General Services Passer (GSP) definitions and enable rules and GSP services for connectivity and testing
Requirements
  • High School Diploma with 2 years of college
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in network support and maintenance
  • CompTIA Security+ certification required
  • Possess or able to obtain an IAT Level II certification, Security+, CCNA Security Certifications, etc.
  • Proficient with Cisco Switching, Multi-Path high availability, GLBP, HSRP, QoS, routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, WLAN, Prefix Lists, NAT, PAT, MPLS, VoIP, video, IDS/IPS, NAC, and firewalls
  • Ability to use network troubleshooting tools and techniques and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Work Environment

The position requires sitting for long periods of time, extended use of a keyboard and computer monitor, and may require lifting of 20-50 lbs.
