Overview

SAIC is in search of a Lead Linux Systems Engineer to contribute to our TACNET initiative. This position necessitates occasional travel.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver comprehensive systems engineering support throughout the system life cycle for our NAVWAR and NIWC clientele.
  • Primarily focused on ACS, while also addressing software and hardware tasks essential for the maintenance of currently deployed CANES systems.
  • Act as Tier 3 technical consultants for ACS development, maintenance, and escalation assistance.
  • Support will include a variety of capabilities, such as system installations, enforcement of configuration management, system maintenance and upgrades, remote assistance, and urgent CASREP support as required for military personnel.
  • This encompasses analysis and modifications to substitute commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components that have reached end of life (EOL), adjustments to facilitate new interfaces with other systems, and changes to existing systems driven by client specifications.
  • Provide troubleshooting support, either remotely or on-site.
  • Examine failure data, trouble reports, and other communications from the U.S. Navy Fleet to pinpoint existing system shortcomings.
  • Recommend solutions, conduct peer evaluations, and collaborate with production engineers to implement these solutions.
  • Generate and revise engineering documentation and oversee solutions through a formal configuration management process.
  • Engage in technical meetings, report on technical advancements, prepare briefings, and deliver presentations.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Team (IPT), Technical Working Group (TWG), and engineering/design review meetings.
  • Conduct technical planning, define high-level and detailed requirements, plan and execute tests (including use cases, test procedures, and test data), integrate software systems, and provide technical support for software systems and subsystems.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree with five (5) years or more of relevant experience; Master's degree with three (3) years or more of relevant experience; PhD with no related experience; or four (4) years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Possession of an active Secret clearance.
  • Willingness and capability to travel as needed.

Target salary range: $120,001 - $160,000. This estimate reflects the typical salary range for this role based on experience and other factors.
