Job Overview

HRI, Inc. is seeking a skilled and motivated Paving Foreman for the Central Pennsylvania region. This role is crucial within our Highway Division, specializing in asphalt paving and related services. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all crew activities adhere to HRI's safety protocols, planning and delegating tasks, monitoring labor hours, and efficiently managing construction crew operations. Travel may be required for this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead paving teams, including equipment operators, laborers, and subcontractors.
  • Delegate tasks, provide guidance, and ensure compliance with project specifications and quality benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to achieve project goals.
  • Inspect work sites to verify proper preparation, grading, and compaction prior to paving.
  • Operate paving machinery, including asphalt pavers, rollers, and skid steers as necessary.
  • Complete daily logs, timesheets, and other documentation as per company and project requirements.
  • Maintain precise records of work completed, materials utilized, and equipment usage.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent experience; additional technical training or certifications in paving operations are preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Skills
  • Demonstrated experience as a paving foreman or in a similar leadership role within the construction sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of asphalt paving techniques, materials, and machinery.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, focused on delivering quality outcomes within budget and on schedule.
Physical Demands

The paving foreman must prioritize safety practices to protect themselves and others on-site. This includes following safety protocols, utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and recognizing potential hazards.

The role primarily involves outdoor work on construction sites, which may expose the individual to loud noises, dust, fumes, and varying weather conditions. The job may require frequent bending, lifting, and prolonged standing. Irregular hours and occasional travel to different job sites may be necessary.

Additional Physical Requirements Include:

  • Ability to lift heavy items, such as paving materials and tools, potentially exceeding 50 pounds.
  • Stamina to work extended hours in diverse weather conditions, including extreme temperatures.
  • Effective communication skills, including listening and verbal abilities, to ensure awareness of equipment signals and potential hazards.
