This role involves working in a fast-paced laboratory environment dedicated to the Heart and Vascular Institute.
Work Schedule: The position requires availability from Monday to Friday, with shifts scheduled between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Technologists in this facility will have varied start times.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology, or compliance with local regulatory requirements.
- At least one year of experience in clinical laboratory testing is essential, or a degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
- Proficiency in Hematology, Coagulation, and Chemistry is mandatory.
- Covid vaccination or an accepted exemption for religious or medical reasons is required.
- Ability to pass a standardized color vision screening is necessary.
- Flexibility to work various shifts is required.
- Previous experience with LabCorp is advantageous.
- ASCP or AMT certification is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess the acceptability of specimens for testing based on established criteria.
- Execute routine and complex technical procedures in accordance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
- Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to ensure optimal performance.
- Exhibit the ability to make informed technical decisions regarding testing and problem resolution.
- Prepare, evaluate, and test new reagents or controls.
- Deliver accurate and timely test results to ensure quality patient care.
- Conduct and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
- Identify and restock testing supplies as needed.
- Assist with specimen processing when required.
- Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to personal protective equipment protocols.
