Position Summary:
The Direct Support Professional is tasked with delivering direct assistance, hands-on guidance, and positive reinforcement to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). This role is vital in ensuring their health, safety, and the successful attainment of personal goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enhance the lives of residents while ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.
- Offer companionship and tailored care, promoting independence and self-sufficiency.
- Assist with daily living activities such as dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
- Prepare meals and snacks, which may involve grocery shopping.
- Conduct light housekeeping and laundry tasks.
- Support transportation needs as required.
- Provide mobility and transfer assistance, potentially utilizing mechanical lift devices.
- Implement positive behavior support strategies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Reliable transportation is essential.
- Availability to work at least one weekend day is necessary.
- References must be provided.
- Willingness to participate in two weeks of paid orientation and training.
- A genuine passion for helping others is crucial.
- Must be people-oriented and possess a collaborative mindset.
- Dependability, adaptability, and flexibility are key traits.
- Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions is required.
Successful candidates will need to comply with all relevant state requirements.
