About the Role:
Pediatrix Medical Group is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our Maternal Fetal Medicine team. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic ultrasound tests for patients in our Maternal Fetal Medicine setting.
Responsibilities:
- Provide diagnostic ultrasound tests for patients in the Maternal Fetal Medicine setting.
- Work independently and with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to pregnant women.
- Escort patients and families to and from examination rooms.
- Explain exams to patients and families prior to the commencement of the test to assure cooperation and optimum test results.
- Acquire anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician.
- Maintain patient charts and records, and record/process sonographic data and other pertinent observations made during the procedure for presentation to the interpreting physician.
- Create preliminary reports for physician review/signature.
- Review studies with physicians.
- Assist physicians with procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.
- Code appropriately for services performed.
- Maintain proper operation of the ultrasound equipment.
- Recognize equipment malfunctions and take appropriate corrective action.
- Maintain laundry for examination rooms.
- Responsible for maintaining adequate inventory of ultrasound supplies.
- Follow accredited laboratory protocols for obtaining two-dimensional images, color flow, Doppler, and m-mode where applicable.
- Follow and comply with universal precautions and OSHA standards.
- Follow and comply with safety and security training.
- Rotate as needed to cover Sonographer absences.
- Perform related and other assigned duties as directed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum six months experience as an ultrasound technician working in OB/GYN and/or MFM setting preferred.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
- Skilled in operating ultrasound equipment.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Graduate of an accredited sonography program with a degree in ultrasonography or equivalent.
- ARDMS OB/GYN certified or eligible.
- Fetal echo certification or eligible to obtain with 12 months of hire. Fetal echo experience preferred or will be provided.
- Participates in staff development, in-service workshops, and educational activities.
- Participates in professional development activities and meetings.
- Completion of a program containing OB/GYN ultrasonography.
- CPR certification required.

Pay Scale:
The expected pay for this position ranges from $65.38 per hour and is based on years of relevant experience and Fetal Echo certification.
