Wine Connoisseur

The Charter Oak is seeking a skilled Wine Team Member to join our team. As a key member of our wine team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our guests, while also contributing to the success of our wine program.

• Provide polished and poised service to guests, including wine recommendations and pairings.
• Assist in managing the flow of dining room service, including table assignments and wine service.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of wine training programs for new and existing staff members.
• Assist in controlling inventory and managing wine costs.
• Provide constructive input on wine pairings, BTG, and bottle programs to ensure alignment with menu offerings and price points.

• Minimum of 3 years experience in Front of House, full-service dining room operations.
• Previous experience working as a floor sommelier or retail wine sales is encouraged, but not required.
• Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET, or similar certification programs are encouraged, but not required.
• Must be able to demonstrate an extensive depth of knowledge on wine, specifically Napa, California, Burgundy, and other classic regions.
• Must be comfortable with basic financial calculations and controls, including pricing wines correctly and conducting inventory.
