Welder in Training Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Welder in Training program at Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding. As a Welder in Training, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills in welding and fabrication, working on a variety of projects and equipment.

Training Program Overview

Our 5-week training program is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed as a welder in our shipyard. You will learn about FBS tools and their proper application, proper PPE to be worn while working as a shipyard welder, and demonstration on proper Flux core welding techniques. You will also practice flat, horizontal, vertical & overhead weld beads on plate, horizontal and vertical fillet welds, and multiple pass flat, horizontal, vertical & overhead fillet welds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Successfully pass the basic horizontal & vertical groove weld test using a ceramic backing strip.
  • Weld simulated production welds.
  • Overall review and demonstration of workmanship skills learned.
  • Adhere to attendance policies as attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • Maintain a commitment to and promote the Quality and Environmental, Health & Safety Policies.
  • Abide by all organizational policies and procedures.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong willingness to learn, be able to work in inclement weather, and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
