Job Title: Senior Level Diesel Mechanic

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Level Diesel Mechanic to join our team at Ryder System. As a Senior Level Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for performing complex mechanical and electronic repairs on heavy duty vehicles, including routine preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard vehicle maintenance, preventive maintenance, and complex mechanical and electronic repairs.
  • Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable.
  • Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision.
  • Replace defective components as instructed.
  • Work unsupervised on most tasks.
  • Perform facility maintenance duties.
  • Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task.
  • Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available.
  • Work in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT).
  • Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels.
  • Demonstrate the ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents.
  • Other support duties as required to support operations.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred.
  • Basic tools, required.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including: routine preventative maintenance, basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems.
  • Three (3) years or more relevant work experience, preferred.
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A, preferred.
  • All other certification as required by location, required.
