Lead Java Software Engineer

Position Overview:

The Lead Java Software Engineer plays a pivotal role within our engineering team, collaborating across various domains including Business Services, Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, and Infrastructure Engineering. Our mission is to deliver seamless experiences to our clients while upholding the highest standards of security and system availability.

Our team excels in producing top-tier technology solutions in a rapidly evolving environment where priorities can shift swiftly.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical expertise, spanning from front-end interfaces to back-end systems and everything in between.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and implement scalable and resilient distributed systems.
  • Contribute to product definition and leverage technical acumen to drive optimal solutions.
  • Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Lead design discussions and code reviews with peers to enhance engineering quality across the organization.
  • Define, create, and maintain reusable application components and patterns from both business and technology perspectives.
  • Utilize programming languages such as Java, C#, Kotlin, Python, along with SQL and NoSQL databases, and container orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes, as well as various Azure services.
  • Mentor fellow engineers to help them achieve their professional potential.
  • Continuously share best practices and enhance processes within and across teams.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in architecture and design.
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • 2+ years of experience with open-source frameworks.
  • Advanced proficiency in at least two modern programming languages, including Java, Kotlin, Python, or C#, with knowledge of both object-oriented and functional programming paradigms.
  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and open-source frameworks.
  • Experience with Spring Boot and related Spring projects.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience in designing and architecting both new and existing systems.
  • Knowledge of event-driven architectures and building microservices using pub-sub or streaming technologies.
  • Experience with test-driven development methodologies.
  • In-depth understanding of computer science data structures and algorithms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and proactive troubleshooting skills.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
  • Practical experience working in Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Azure services including AKS, DevOps, and Cosmos DB.
  • Familiarity with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code using Terraform.
  • Knowledge of Reactive Programming, GraphQL, and SaaS service development.
  • Experience with resource modeling and development using DDD, CQRS, and event sourcing patterns.
