Job Overview

American Refining Group Inc. is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician I to join our team in ensuring the reliable operation of our plant equipment and facilities.

About the Job

This role involves performing routine maintenance on plant equipment, fabricating or repairing parts, and conducting preventative maintenance activities to ensure consistent and uninterrupted operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Main Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on plant equipment such as motors, pumps, conveyors, belts, sensors, etc., and fabricate or repair parts as needed.
  • Facilities Maintenance: Conduct general facilities maintenance including electrical wiring, minor plumbing, and hardware repairs.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical and electromechanical issues with plant and/or facility equipment.
  • Programming: Program PLCs using ASCII control systems and author limited programming code for operating machinery and automation solutions.
  • Scheduling and Record-Keeping: Determine and perform preventative maintenance schedules; maintain service logs and records.
  • Coordination: Coordinate with outside service providers and vendors as needed to facilitate service and/or repairs.
  • Supply Management: Price and requisition new supplies, equipment, and/or replacement parts.
  • Project Management: Manage tasks, projects, and time to find effective solutions for problems.
  • Operational Support: Operate forklifts, use tools and/or equipment, and conduct work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Compliance: Understand and follow OSHA lockout/tagout regulations and open line/entry permit requirements.
  • Ongoing Development: Participate in company and/or mandated training programs as required by supervisors.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Education: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, preferably with an associate degree in maintenance or engineering technology.
  • Experience: Accumulate at least three to five years of experience in a high-speed production environment.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Familiarize yourself with ladder logic and PLC programs, demonstrating a strong understanding of automation principles.
  • Certifications and Licenses: Maintain a valid motor vehicle driver's license and acquire forklift certification upon training.

Additional Information

This position entails working in various indoor and outdoor environments, often with exposure to extreme temperatures, hazardous materials, and moderate noise levels. Regularly wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and utilize respiratory equipment, such as self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), as necessary. Be prepared to work overtime, holidays, weekends, scheduled time off, and shift work as required to support plant operations.
