Job Summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a skilled Unit Technician to support the nursing practice of our units. As a key member of our team, you will assist with patient care, provide 24/7 surveillance, and collaborate with nursing and consultants/providers to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Responsibilities

Assist with patient care under the direction of a registered nurse and/or licensed medical professional
Provide 24/7 surveillance, analysis, and interpretation of patient's heart rhythm patterns, blood pressure, and pulse oximetry
Collaborate with nursing and consultants/providers to address abnormal or critical patient parameters
Identify and activate medical emergency response plans
Perform ECGs, splinting, and other duties as assigned in the emergency department setting

Qualifications

18 years old and completion of 12 college credits, or high school diploma/GED with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant training or equivalent
Basic computer knowledge and skills required
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
Excellent organizational, communication, writing, and listening skills
Ability to work effectively in a team setting and be flexible
Knowledge of medical terminology
BLS certification included in orientation program; successful completion required prior to first day in patient care
