Position Summary:

As a Cost Estimator at All American Barricades, you will play a crucial role in assessing project costs by collecting and analyzing proposals, engineering drawings, specifications, and other relevant documentation. This position collaborates closely with the VP of Operations and CEO to evaluate the financial implications of completing project scopes outlined in tenders. Your responsibilities will include conducting quantity take-offs, preparing detailed cost estimates, organizing bids, and liaising with subcontractors to ascertain the financial requirements for project completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comprehend the scope of work to be estimated.
  • Gather proposals, traffic management plans, engineering drawings, specifications, and related documents to prepare for estimation.
  • Identify labor, material, and time requirements by reviewing proposals, plans, specifications, and related documents.
  • Calculate costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
  • Resolve discrepancies through information collection and analysis.
  • Present prepared estimates by compiling and displaying numerical and descriptive data.
  • Generate special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintain a cost database by entering and backing up data.
  • Possess a strong understanding of traffic control safety and construction processes.
  • Establish and nurture working relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Contribute to team objectives by achieving related results as necessary.
  • Demonstrate the ability to multitask and meet strict deadlines.
  • Create and implement change orders.
  • Company reserves the right to modify duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of experience in traffic control safety or construction estimating (preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, maintaining spreadsheets, general computer skills, and a willingness to learn new project management software.
  • Familiarity with traffic control safety and construction methodologies.
  • Able to interpret traffic management plans and contracts to develop cost estimates.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, including presentation skills (English and Spanish preferred).
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Strong multitasking, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and communicate, both in person and via telephone.
  • Requires the use of hands to handle, control, or lift objects with a firm grip.
