Respiratory Therapist Lead

Advocate Aurora Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist Lead to join our team in Cudahy, Wisconsin.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with leadership to plan and manage operations, ensuring patient safety, quality outcomes, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Work effectively in multidisciplinary teams to support site and/or organizational goals.
- Oversee respiratory therapists' day-to-day operations and serve as a clinical resource.
- Act as a resource for respiratory therapy processes, utilizing skills such as pulmonary diagnostics, chest radiograph, hemodynamic values, laboratory values, and correlates blood gases and electrolytes.
- Operate specialized ventilators in critical and non-critical care venues, assisting physicians with bedside or other procedures as applicable.
- Provide medication treatments and therapies per physician order and/or patient-driven respiratory protocols (PDRPs) as prescribed.
- Clean, maintain, and ensure proper functionality of equipment, troubleshooting as necessary and identifying the need for service and/or repair.
- Educate and instruct patients in purpose, technique, self-care, goal of therapy, and disease management, facilitating clinical problem solving and collaborating with other departments to provide education on managing patients.
- Under physician direction, adapt and comply to policies and procedures for various service areas, perform tasks and/or special duties as required by assignment, and maintain performance standards and organizational behaviors.
- Demonstrate effective communication, feedback, and conflict resolution skills, promoting a culture of safety by recognizing and applying proper safety measures to prevent patient harm.
- Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
- Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy and typically 3 years of experience in Respiratory Care.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:- Effective organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Problem solving and decision making for patient care and equipment use.
- Basic computer skills.
- Operate all equipment necessary to perform the job.
- Lift 50 lb. object from knee to waist.
- Lift 50 lb. from floor to waist height occasionally.
- Lift 40 lb. at waist height and carry it across various distances.
- Lift 20 lb. from waist to overhead.
- Push/pull while utilizing 30# of force occasionally for long distances.
- Stand-pivot transfer from bed to chair.
- Sliding transfer of 150 lbs. person on a sheet across 2 feet with a second person.
- Utilize safe body mechanics at all times.
