Job Overview

Position Title: Mathnasium Instructor

Role Summary:

The Mathnasium Instructor plays a pivotal role in imparting mathematical knowledge to students through the Mathnasium approach. This position emphasizes outstanding customer service by tailoring instruction to meet the unique needs of each student. Instructors are dedicated to fostering students' confidence and self-worth through positive interactions and carefully chosen educational materials. Collaboration within a team-oriented environment is essential to ensure that all student requirements are met effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver instruction using the Mathnasium methodology and established teaching practices.
  • Encourage and engage students actively during learning sessions.
  • Assess and document student progress regularly.
  • Provide constructive feedback on student work to promote improvement.
  • Maintain student focus and re-engage those who may be distracted.
  • Manage classroom behavior to create a conducive learning atmosphere.
  • Communicate student needs to leadership and fellow instructors in a collaborative setting.
  • Assist with non-instructional tasks, including administrative duties and curriculum preparation.

Instructor Qualifications:

Mathematical Proficiency:
Instructors should possess a strong passion for mathematics, demonstrating expertise at least through Algebra I. Those working with high school students should also excel in advanced topics such as Algebra II and Trigonometry. Commitment to ongoing training and application of new teaching strategies is essential.

Engagement Skills:
Instructors must effectively interact with students, providing clear and concise instruction. The ability to inspire students and create an enjoyable learning environment is crucial, as is the capacity to build strong relationships that keep students motivated.

Facilitation Abilities:
Instructors should adeptly transition between students, managing multiple instructional sessions simultaneously. The ability to evaluate and document progress is vital for facilitating effective learning experiences.

Professionalism:
Instructors are expected to maintain a friendly yet professional demeanor when interacting with students, parents, and colleagues, establishing trust and confidence in the Mathnasium program.

Additional Duties:

  • Teach mathematical concepts effectively.
  • Monitor and support student performance in a learning environment.
  • Utilize diverse instructional methodologies, including team teaching.
  • Provide timely feedback to students to foster confidence and motivation.
  • Ensure a safe and orderly environment by managing student behavior.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to parents and students.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance instructional techniques.
