Position Overview:
As a Medical Physicist, you will collaborate closely with Radiation Oncologists and fellow Medical Physicists to ensure the highest standards of patient care through advanced treatment planning and quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities:
The following responsibilities outline the core functions of this position:

  • Support the Radiation Oncologist and Medical Physicists in performing IMRT QA, dosimetry, calibration, and treatment planning.
  • Engage in the development of computerized treatment planning and assist with dosimetry for various isotopes utilized in Brachytherapy.
  • Oversee compliance with Federal and State regulations regarding the use of ionizing radiation, ensuring safety protocols are adhered to.
  • Conduct calibration of x-ray equipment and perform radiation protection surveys as necessary.
  • Manage the accountability of sealed sources and therapeutic isotopes, ensuring proper documentation and safety measures are in place.
  • Assist in patient setup and collaborate with the chief medical physicist and dosimetrist on tumor localization procedures.
  • Calibrate therapy machines and contribute to the development of innovative treatment methods.
  • Maintain effective communication and professional relationships with all departmental associates.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • A Master of Science degree in Physics, Radiation Physics, or a related field.
  • Certification in therapeutic radiological physics, to be obtained within three years of hire.

Physical and Working Environment:
This position requires the ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, and lifting, while also working in environments with exposure to various radiation types and chemicals.
