**Job Overview:** We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Phlebotomy Technician to join our team at the Togus VA Medical Center. As a critical member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for collecting and processing patient specimens, performing blood cultures and compatibility tests, and ensuring accurate and efficient laboratory results.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in phlebotomy and laboratory procedures, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will work closely with healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.

**Responsibilities:

  • Collect and process patient specimens using venipuncture and other techniques
  • Perform blood cultures and compatibility tests, including centrifugation and pouring off samples
  • Access and receive samples into the laboratory information system (LIS)
  • Transport specimens to the laboratory, including those requiring special handling
  • Prepare collection lists for inpatient blood draws and look up order numbers and patient information for outpatient services
  • Provide general clerical and administrative support to the laboratory team

**Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency, such as ASCP, AMT, or AMCA
  • American Heart Association (AHA) CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience within the last 3 years as a Patient Service Technician/Phlebotomist
  • Experience with the Vista Laboratory Information System (LIS) is preferred
