We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Sevita. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing educational assistance to program participants and coordinating carry-over strategies developed by the cognitive or trans-disciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Educational Assistance: Offer educational support to program participants at their academic placement.
- Coordinate Carry-Over Strategies: Work with the cognitive or trans-disciplinary team to develop and implement strategies to support participants' educational goals.
- Conduct IEP Meetings: Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to develop and implement individualized education plans.
- Design and Implement Individual Education Plans: Create and implement individualized education plans to meet the unique needs of program participants.
- Attend Clinical Team Meetings: Participate in weekly clinical team meetings with the communication/cognition team to discuss participant progress and develop strategies for improvement.
- Complete Documentation: Accurately complete all necessary documentation, including service summaries, reports, and billing slips.
- Supervise and Assist in Curriculum Development: Supervise and assist in the development and implementation of curriculum to support program participants' educational goals.
- Evaluate Student Progress: Develop methods to evaluate student progress and make data-driven decisions to inform instruction.
- Meet with Parents/Guardians and Students: Meet with parents/guardians and students to provide guidance and support, and to seek solutions to problems.
- Implement Classroom Environment Policies: Establish and maintain a supportive and inclusive classroom environment by implementing policies and procedures that promote a positive and respectful learning environment.
- Establish and Maintain Working Relationships: Establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, parents/guardians, and community partners to support program participants' educational goals.
- Bachelor's Degree in Special Education: Possess a Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Pennsylvania Special Education PK-12 Certification: Hold a valid Pennsylvania Special Education PK-12 certification.
- Experience in Classroom or Tutorial Settings: Have at least one year of experience working in a classroom or tutorial setting, preferably with special populations.
- Self-Motivated and Detail-Oriented: Be self-motivated and detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong Communication Skills: Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to establish trust and rapport with program participants, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
