Youth Counselor

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Counselor to join our team at Woodward Academy. As a Youth Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing guidance and support to our youth, helping them to develop essential life skills and achieve their full potential.

• Supervise and Engage Youth: Supervise youth activities to observe and effect positive changes in their social behavior.
• Maintain Facility Security: Maintain the security of the facility and grounds.
• One-to-One Mentoring: Provide limited one-to-one mentoring to support the personal growth and development of our youth.
• Evaluation and Reporting: Prepare periodic and special evaluations on assigned youth, reporting significant changes in social behavior and making recommendations for changes in assignments.
• Crisis Intervention: Provide crisis intervention with juveniles, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Instruction and Guidance: Give basic instruction in work, recreation, and housekeeping activities to support the development of essential life skills.
• Communication: Communicate orally and in writing all appropriate reports and information to ensure effective collaboration and support.

• Education: High school degree or equivalent.
• Background Check: Ability to complete a full-background check including fingerprints to work with youth.
• Physical Ability: It is an essential function of the job that staff be able to physically perform Emergency Safety Interventions (ESI's).
• Reliable Transportation: Reliable transportation to the work site.
