Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Certified Nursing Assistant to join our team at Epworth Children's Home. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with vital signs, scheduling, and transportation of clients to off-campus service providers
  • Provide basic care for patients confined to the Health Center due to medical needs
  • Collaborate with the Campus Nurse to provide preventive and acute care for residents
  • Support residential staff within areas of qualification, such as universal precautions and medication administration
  • Provide logistical support to meet the health needs of residents
  • Assume primary responsibility for maintaining the health facility in a manner required by SC state and local regulations
  • Function collaboratively with all Epworth staff to systematically and effectively meet the health needs of residents
Job Tasks
  • Transport clients to appointments, remain in the doctor's office while being seen, and communicate professionally with the doctor and office staff
  • Coordinate on-campus pediatrician visits by prepping the chart and other paperwork and calling patients into exam rooms and taking vital signs for the nurse
  • Provide first aid to clients and others per standing protocols
  • Assist in-patients with meals, bathing, and grooming as needed
  • Supervise clients who are unable to attend school due to illness
  • Supervise groups of clients in the health center for exams and during other approved visits
  • Keep patient and exam rooms clean and ready for admissions
  • Refill and restock medications at public school
  • Spend the night with in-patients as needed
  • Assist with answering the phones
  • Dust, sweep, mop, clean bathrooms, empty trashcans, and laundry as needed and according to cleaning schedules
  • Maintain privacy and confidentiality of resident and staff health information in a manner consistent with SC state and federal requirements
  • Assist nurse in administering resident and employee drug screens
  • Assist nurse with reading the results of the TB test for employees, as applicable
  • Enter medicines and all medical information into the client database system(s)
  • Schedule medical, dental, and vision appointments within established deadlines
  • Request and deliver prescription refills from the pharmacy
  • Assist with completion of exams of new admissions within established deadlines
  • Assist with applying for insurance coverage for clients, as applicable
  • Purchase medical supplies for Health Center and cottages
  • Participate as appropriate in the PQI process as assigned
Qualifications
  • Licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid
  • Belief system and faith practices compatible with those of the United Methodist Church
  • Ability to pass standard background checks, including: drug screen, employment physical, SLED, DSS Central Registry, and Sex Offenders Registry
