As part of Optum, the leading network of medical groups in the nation, we are looking for a dedicated Full-Time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to become a vital member of our Remote Team in Southern California.
Position Overview
This is a full-time, remote role that requires coverage during various shifts, including weeknights, weekends, and holidays. The anticipated hours for this position are from 8 PM to 8 AM, totaling 80 hours in a pay period. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, with potential patterns such as 3x12 hours one week and 3x12 plus 1x8 the following week to fulfill the required hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Primarily work from home with all necessary equipment provided.
- Participate in telecommuting after completing one week of onsite training.
- Handle escalated overnight calls from nurse triage.
- Provide support for after-hours assignments and tasks across various sites in Southern California.
- Utilize multiple Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) systems effectively.
- Conduct telemedicine acute care consultations via phone and video.
- Option to increase working hours if desired.

Required Qualifications
- A Master's degree from an accredited institution or a professional certification beyond a four-year degree.
- Active and unrestricted California State Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant License.
- Current California DEA certificate or the ability to obtain it prior to employment.
- Reliable access to high-speed internet.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- A minimum of 2 years of clinical practice experience.
- Experience in Urgent Care or Emergency Room settings.
- Strong understanding of examination methodologies and diagnostic processes.
- Proficiency in recognizing medication indications, side effects, and contraindications.
- Confidence in clinical decision-making during telephone consultations.
- Reside locally within a reasonable distance from the training location.
