Special Education Teacher Job Description

Soliant Education is seeking a qualified Special Education Teacher to provide inclusion support for students in grades 5-12, along with some pullout support for subjects such as English Language Arts (ELA), Math, Science, and Social Studies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inclusion Support: Provide in-classroom support to students with IEPs in grades 5-12 across multiple subjects, ensuring that they have access to the general education curriculum alongside their peers.
  • Pullout Services: Offer individualized instruction in ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies through pullout sessions, focusing on students who require additional help beyond the inclusion setting.
  • Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for each student, ensuring personalized instruction and accommodations that meet their specific academic and social-emotional needs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to ensure students receive the necessary accommodations and modifications in the classroom.
  • Behavioral Support: Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) when necessary, utilizing positive behavior reinforcement strategies to support student engagement and success.
  • Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess student performance and use data to adjust instruction and interventions as needed to help students meet their IEP goals.
  • Parental Communication: Maintain open communication with parents and guardians, keeping them informed of their child's progress and any changes in academic or behavioral strategies.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
  • Valid Texas teaching certification in Special Education.
  • Experience working with middle and high school students in an inclusion and/or pullout setting is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of IEP development, differentiated instruction, and behavior management strategies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
