Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent to join our team at Erie County, NY. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of our large municipal wastewater treatment plant and related facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant, laboratory, and outlying structures.
  • Plan and supervise the work of revision or addition to plant buildings, structures, equipment, and machinery.
  • Supervise the activities of the treatment process divisions to ensure they meet the standards of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
  • Supervise the installation of new devices and improvements.
  • Prepare and control the annual budget and expenditures within budget allowances.
  • Maintain records and reports pertaining to the activities of the wastewater treatment plant.
  • Stay informed on engineering trends and new developments in sanitation engineering science and techniques.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant field and two years of responsible supervisory experience in a large municipal wastewater treatment plant.
  • Five years of responsible experience in the operation and maintenance of a large maintenance plant, two years of which utilized the activated sludge process.
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Grade 4A Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate, issued by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, is required at the time of appointment.
