About the Role

SpaceX is a pioneering space exploration company that aims to make humanity a multi-planetary species. As a Site Reliability Engineer, Data, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and scalability of our mission-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement sharded and geo-redundant distributed systems to support our multi-region environment
  • Advance our deployment, monitoring, and alerting infrastructure to meet the demands of a growing organization
  • Manage petabyte-scale bare metal compute clusters to optimize performance and efficiency
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create highly operable, scalable, and maintainable products
  • Engage in the entire software development lifecycle, from inception to deployment and refinement
  • Identify and address performance bottlenecks and implement optimization techniques
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or a scientific discipline; or 2+ years of professional experience in site reliability or DevOps
  • Experience with Linux operating systems and a strong understanding of system administration
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • 2+ years of experience in site reliability or DevOps
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes and Istio for on-premise deployment
  • Experience with in-stream data processing and analytics using open-source platforms such as Apache Kafka, Spark, HBase, HDFS, and Flink
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware and network-layer issues
  • Programming experience in Python, C#, Java, Scala, or similar languages
  • Good understanding of version control, testing, continuous integration, build, deployment, and monitoring
Additional Requirements
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when needed
Compensation and Benefits

SpaceX offers a competitive salary range for this role, with a base salary of $120,000 to $145,000 per year for Site Reliability Engineer/Level I and $140,000 to $170,000 per year for Site Reliability Engineer/Level II. In addition to base salary, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, discretionary bonuses, and comprehensive benefits, including medical, vision, and dental coverage, 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks.
