Key Responsibilities
  • Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning and develop skills.
  • Administer and record achievement tests as recommended by the teacher.
  • Assist in devising strategies to support students with diverse needs and abilities.
  • Operate and maintain equipment used in the classroom for instructional purposes.
  • Help students master equipment and instructional materials assigned by the teacher.
  • Supervise students during emergency drills, assemblies, and field trips.
  • Participate in large group activities such as drill work, reading aloud, and storytelling.
  • Read to students, listen to students read, and engage in oral communication with students.
  • Assist students with transitions and throughout the building.
  • Check folders, work with individual and small groups, and supervise small groups as assigned by the teacher.
  • Provide support with clothing and toileting needs as necessary.
  • Serve as a substitute teacher on an emergency basis and maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 36 college hours from an accredited college or university.
  • Pass the Paraprofessional test in the State of Missouri or complete the Missouri 20-hour Online Substitute Training Program.
  • Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
Working Conditions

The work environment is consistent with a typical office/school setting. The position requires moderate travel and physical activity.
