Position Overview

The University of California is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual for the role of Operations Officer within the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships (OFAS). This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial aid processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Verification Reviews: Conduct thorough reviews of complex federal income tax returns and associated documentation to ensure compliance with financial aid regulations.
  • Document Management: Oversee the intake process for all incoming documents, ensuring proper coding, imaging, and maintenance within electronic document management systems.
  • Critical Decision Making: Make informed decisions regarding citizenship verification, Selective Service compliance, and other essential financial aid documentation.
  • Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeals: Assist in the collection and evaluation of student financial aid appeals, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete for committee review.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise a small team of work-study students, providing guidance and support in managing OFAS social media channels and ensuring quality control of document processing.
Qualifications

Education: A bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited institution is required.

Experience: A minimum of one year of progressively responsible experience in a financial aid office or related environment is preferred.
